Shopping bag extraordinaire
I thought I’d share my latest obsession - Nagi Nora. You may not have heard of the name, but you have seen her work. She is the conceptual guru behind the Scissor Sisters video “She’s my man”, a Coca Cola commercial (which The White Stripes did the music for) and numerous other works. She is so brilliantly kooky that lately I can’t seem to get enough. This series of paper bag designs is just a glimpse of the Japanese pop art genius.

Cozy-dozy-tastic
It’s been a long hard week and I’m ready to slip into a cozy weekend with a book, a movie and a nap. Something between a yummy sofa and a hammock would fit the bill. Ask and you shall receive. Bless has just what the doctor ordered.
Sofa Hammock - for SNL
File Hammock - for The Sunday Times
Fur Hammock - for a nap in Neverland

Stiletto-cycle
You thought that one of these was odd enough? Me too. In response to yesterday’s post, I received this photo. Looks like shoezuki # 1 has competition - High Heel Cycle. I have to say that as far as thematic vehicles go, this one has a far superior arch to the other. Still searching for my pumps…

A quest for red stilettos
I was looking for a pair of simple red stilettos for a formal event, which are apparently quite a quest to find. Here’s what I stumbled upon instead - a red stiletto motorcycle. Not sure what’s more awkward: the Disney Princess shoe shape or the dude driving it? Still looking for the perfect scarlet pair… if you have any good leads, please leave a comment.

Couture torture
No, this is not a sneak peek at the 2009 accessories, at least not yet. Artist, Peter Gronquist, single-handedly re-furbished several old rifles, chainsaws, machine guns, grenades and even and electrical chair and re-branded them with high end fashion labels such as Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Paul Smith, Burberry, Versace, Chanel, Dior and D&G for his exhibit, The Revolution will be Fabulous, currently on display at Gallery 1988 on Melrose. The fabulous pieces from Gronquist’s arsenal are between $500 and $4500. Got an arms fetish or collection? Check out the show for yourself or visit the official website and email the gallery at gallery1988@aol.com for more information on the pieces or to purchase. Hurry, because they’re selling fast.

Bless their hearts
I love Bless! The German designer duo never fails to surprise. This USB cable with fur is from their N°26 Cable Jewelry collection. Bless their hearts for being so innovative with every piece they create. You no longer have to hide your ugly computer cables or any other electronic connections or plugs, show them off for a change! They will also design a custom one for you to fit the style of your environment, if you bring in your own cable. They will transform any cable into a work of art.
Let Bless accessorize your gadgets with taste, like this Wooden Fruits cell phone charger adorned with wooden beads and bangles
or the White Lace Multiple adapter.

Ready-To-Wear Chair
From the same designer that brought you spring bling, comes another creative object: Ready-to-Wear Chair. Jennifer Flume designed it in “response to the increasingly alienating spaces of contemporary urban life, the lack of privacy and personal address“. Flume’s design reminds us of our undeniable innate need for intimacy, warmth and comfort. Love the concept, don’t you?

Hangin’ out
This is a pure example of self-indulgent design from Design Crack that doesn’t serve a real purpose and is not particularly attractive.

This stylin’ leather clothes rack, on the other hand, you can leave your coat and your hat on. I love this piece by Donata Paruccinni. Italians really have an eye for aesthetics. It’s simple, functional and playful. The color marriage is stunning.

Dude’s not home. Please leave a message.

Message Tape - now, that’s clever functional multi-purpose design. Black out the white dots to create personalized messages, label boxes, make signs, decorate, use it for packaging or just as standard heavy duty tape. How many times have you had to leave a message on a friend’s door and couldn’t find any paper or tape? No more. Two birds, one sharpie.
