Extraordinary Side Tables

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

I’ve recently been told (by my mother,) that I need a bit more living room lighting. Each time she visits she complains she can’t see. I’ve never noticed the lack of light, but to make her happy, I decided to buy a lamp. After this decision to appease my mother, I realized I had nowhere for the lamp to sit.  The furniture in my living room consists of a sofa, 1 chair, a rug, coffee table, and TV compartment. No side table or end table to be found!

Finding the lamp was easy, now it was on to search for the perfect side table. In doing so, I came across some extremely cool, extraordinary tables! Most of these weren’t exactly the right ones for my space, but very cool nonetheless. If I had the need, I’d definitely have a few of these.

Candles and Covers

When you’re curling up with a good book, or an electronic Kindle version of it, comfort is the most important requirement.  If you have a fireplace, that’s ideal.  Again, you can opt for the electric heater version too.  I like a lot of light in the room (so I don’t pass out), but I also like having a few candles on to enhance the relaxed reading atmosphere.

Here are some essentials:

Votivo Blackberry Basil Candle

Archipelago Botanicals Amalfi Tin Candle

Spice up Your Dining Room

If you have been watching the Food Network and/or reality television you might have noticed that eating is more than survival.  It’s about rock star chefs.  It’s about cooking gourmet meals with random ingredients in constrained times.  It’s about eating live worms and chicken brains for cash.  So…when you are serving your guests pickled horse feet and they have to eat it in under 2:00 flat in order to be served the ice cream cake desert…at least make your dining room look nice.

Here are my picks:
