Shop Under $30: Sheer Lingerie

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Sexy lingerie! Don’t be shy ladies, this season’s trend is all about baring it all…or not really. Being sexy and pulling off these items doesn’t take an exhibitionist. It’s all about tiny details; a lacy bustier slightly peeking through a button up, a pretty bra-let underneath a slouchy tank. Balance is key here because you don’t want to end up looking trashy or unkempt. Here are some great options I found on beso.com:

A pretty lace bralette in lavender pastel from Ann Taylor, $28.00, to pair with a sheer button up top for a demure, sophisticated sort of sexy.

A sheer tank shows off the perfect amount of skin as well as a little bit of your cute lingerie underneath. This one from LnA, $20.70, has a cute front pocket detail and scoop back. Leave the rest up to the imagination!

Don’t worry if your bra straps are showing. In fact, show them off with this cute American Eagle ruffled bralette, $14.95. You could even pair this with a tube top to add some polka dot ruffled goodness to your bare shoulders.

Lastly, another great option with some extra coverage is this lace under cami bralette from Arden B., $18.00. It’s got a built in bra underneath, with lace overlay, so you get some added support but that sexy lace peep through that you want.

3 Easy Ways To Freshen Up Your Makeup Right Now

Everyday around 3 or 4 o’ clock in the afternoon, my face starts to look and feel like it could use a little freshening up. I desperately need a quick pick-me-up to help me get through the day but with a few more hours to go before I can free myself from the daily grind, I need something that requires practically zero effort. The fix? I reach for my makeup bag that holds 3 essential beauty Secret Weapons. Here are 3 tried and true quick fixes to a fresher face in a snap!

Oil Blotting Sheets
Every makeup bag needs a handy packet of oil blotting sheets to pick up that layer of oil and grime that has built up throughout the day. Try one of Mai Couture’s Blotting Papiers to give your face a fresh revitalizing glow.

Peachy Lip Gloss
Lip gloss will almost always do the trick when it comes to brightening up your face. Give your lips a punch of color in a sheer peachy pink shade like Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Nude Lustre.

Facial Spray
For a face deprived of moisture, replenishing with a refreshing spritz of a facial spray will work wonders. Choose one with packed with antioxidants and minerals like Evian Mineral Water spray to keep you looking fresh throughout the day.

3 Ways to Wear a Boyfriend Blazer

Sunday, May 16th, 2010
Boyfriend Blazer by Fashion Bug, $34.99
Boyfriend Blazer by Fashion Bug, $34.99

The new Boyfriend Blazers are a no-brainer wardrobe staple.  They can be used as outerwear in warmer weather or worn as part of an outfit in cooler temps.  When shopping for this look in plus sizes, try to find a more tailored version.  Yes, the look is supposed to be a little bit slouchier than a fitted jacket, but if its too loose it can look sloppy.

I like this blazer from Fashion Bug in part because of the light stripe pattern on the roll up cuffs.  It’s hard to tell from the image if the jacket nips in at the waist but you can always tailor it if not (especially considering that the jacket is only $34.99!  Here are three easy ways to rock this blazer:

Look One: Calvin Klein Pleated Floral Dress

Look One: The whole idea of this blazer is that it’s supposed to look a little like you borrowed it from your boyfriend.  So why not pair the manly jacket with a frilly floral dress?  The Calvin Klein pleated floral dress pictured at right is in keeping with the bright retro florals that are so big for spring.  I think the smocked details are especially cute and provide a great contrast to the serious tone of a blazer.

Look Two: Etsy Fringe Necklace
Look Two: Etsy Fringe Necklace

Look Two: Another way to take a basic piece to a new place is with a really powerful accessory.  A plus size blogger friend of mine just bought a fringed necklace from the LeilanniLand Etsy Shop.  I am in LOVE with this Etsy designer because these necklaces are truly statement pieces that can completely change your look.  You could pair the blazer with a white t-shirt and this necklace and make it dynamite.  Plus, you get a custom made hand dyed piece none of your friends will have for only $45.

Look Three: Calvin Klein Jeans at Macys
Look Three: Calvin Klein Jeans

Look Three: When you think of blazers, you may think of suits and trousers.  But the most modern way to wear suiting is to pair it with jeans.  These slim cut jeans from Calvin Klein are tailored enough to wear in a business casual situation with a nice blouse.  Or you could wear some torn up bleach spot jeans and a bright colored tank with the jacket and make it a weekend going out look.

Shoe Cravings: Studded Sandals

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Everybody loves studs, right? I’m especially loving studded sandals this season. My favorite are the subtle, elegant stud embellished sandals. Soft leather, studs and some height = the perfect shoe! If you’re looking to add a bit of pizazz to your wardrobe, studded sandals are a must-have. Make a statement without going overboard with my picks at beso.

Ash Studded Wedge, $230.00 at Neiman Marcus – Majorly smokin’ wedge! I’d wear these with just about anything, seriously.

Women’s Stuart Weitzman Studded Platform Sandals – Black, $395.00 at Saks Fifth Avenue – Hot, hot, hot! Wear with your skinny pants or your favorite little black dress.

Nine West Women’s Dimsum Sandal, $49.47 at Endless.com – Fab with a pair of cargo pants or a short skirt.
