This is my favorite Martin Margiela dress from his Spring 2008 collection. I’m not usually a fan of elaborate prints, but this Western fantasy tube dress speaks to me. The image is very striking. I love the color palette and the way the transparent jersey drapes the body.

The sun is back out and it’s time to primp up. This week I will focus on sexy dresses for spring 2008. Running out of inspiration for fitted spring dresses? Roland Mouret has the best cuts and colors and… oh, so much class! Shame the models look so gaunt – I had to crop their heads off so that you can focus on the clothes instead of anorexia. You can view the rest of the collection on video at the NY mag site.

This is Kate Moss.

This is Kate Moss on drugs.

Any questions?
Yes, actually. Who is the ghost-designer behind this faux pas? Apparently someone who doesn’t observe Kate a whole lot. What’s wrong with this picture? Look at what Kate Moss wears and look at what she sells at TopShop with her name on it. Granted her fashion sense has been on a downward spiral since she’s been arm in arm with Jamie Hince of The Kills, aka “the worst dressed man in Britain“, but still. We all know that Kate Moss would rather die than be caught wearing these Little House on the Prairie or Greek funeral dresses. Sorry, Kate. I love you, but whatever your current drug of choice is, it’s not working for you.

LA Fashion week kicks off tonight with a GenArt group show featuring JMary, Jesse Kamm and Le Sang Des Betes. I am most exited about the new JMary collection. Her jackets and dresses have great cuts and quality fabrics that make everyone look sophisticated and untouchable. The dress above is Marlena – black silk chiffon over nude silk georgette with pockets – one of my favorite pieces from her Spring 2008 collection.

threeASFOUR never fail to delight me with their originality. These two dresses are from their Spring/Summer 2008 collection and they are just exquisite.

In the spirit of LA Fashion Week (that starts this Friday) and eco-friendly design, I present to you Gary Harvey. He is a London-based eco-couture designer who unveiled his first collection at the 07 London Fashion Week. The concept behind the 9 dresses presented at the show is to promote fashion design with a conscience and reinvent the perception of recycled clothing. Gary finds second-hand garments in thrift stores and infuses them with a new life and a statement. I impatiently await his next collection.

Newspaper Dress, made from 30 copies of the ‘Financial Times’.

Denim Dress, made from 42 pairs of Levi’s 501 jeans.

Laundry Bag Dress, made from 21 laundry bags

Classic Hollywood Glamour – Marion Cotillard gracefully shined in a Jean-Paul Gautier mermaid gown. Not too much or too little, but just radiant; beautiful neckline, discreet rectangular clutch, long necklace, wavy locks and a winning smile.
