Prada women’s suits are a classic wardrobe must-have that is worth the investment. Besides being synonymous with luxury, Prada is known for quality and sophistication.  A Prada suit will never go out of style, so you can enjoy wearing it for many years to come. When buying a suit, go for a dark color. Black is definitely classic, but you may also consider navy or gray. Anything else will not be as versatile. Fabulous Trench Coats for Fall

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Trench coats are classic, staple pieces that no wardrobe should be without! With every season change I do a wardrobe assessment to clear out and make room for new clothes. In preparation or fall, I spent Saturday organizing my closet and found an old trench that was severely outdated! Because trench coats are the must-have item of the moment, I shopped at beso.com and found some really fabulous trench coats. Needless to say, I’m no longer outdated in this department!

Cape Fever For Fall

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Capes are THE key item for fall. I haven’t owned a cape since I was a youngster, but I’ve got the fever and I’m ready to add some capes to my wardrobe this fall. With so many really fabulous capes out there, it’s making my decisions tough. Alexander McQueen, Alice + Olivia and Juicy Couture all have some great styles. I just can’t decide, they’re all too cute.

Diane Von Furstenberg is one of my absolute favorite designers. Fresh. Modern. Luxurious. Stylish. These are all words that come to mind, when I think of her designs. Diane von Furstenberg leather jackets for fall are no exception. Incredibly gorgeous! I especially love it when a leather jacket makes a statement, and Diane von Furstenberg’s definitely do! Whether you’re looking for basic black or a bold color, you won’t be disappointed.

Cropped Denim Jackets to Die For

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Cropped denim jackets are all the rage and I’m dying over several really spectacular ones. I’m happy the denim jacket is back in this season, but I’m really happy the current trend is to crop them off! I love the fresh and modern take on the classic style. Plus, you can wear these jackets with anything – leggings, jeans, cropped pants, flowy skirts and short dresses. Dress up the denim jacket with a pretty printed scarf or some chunky bangles. Check out two of my favorites, each different, but both super cool!

Fall Trend: Utility Jackets

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Utility Jackets are a huge trend this fall and could be the season’s must-have jacket.  This casual, military-style look is everywhere and can easily be worn by all.  The great thing about utility jackets are their versatility.  An excellent transitional piece, you can wear this jacket year-round when the weather calls. Currently, the hottest colors are army green, gray or black.  I’m deciding between these two:

Military Chic?

Marc Jacobs Damask Ruffle Jacket – Olive, $2,200 at Saks.com
I never thought I’d utter the two words ‘military’ and ‘chic’ in the same sentence…….but the military look has evolved and designers have created some fresh military pieces – aviator and army inspired. No camo here, instead we’re seeing stylish, subtle prints, fitted jackets and cool combats. Functionality is foremost with understated, clean looks. The color of choice is army green followed by classic navy. Here are a few of my favorite military pieces.

3 Ways to Wear a Boyfriend Blazer

Sunday, May 16th, 2010
Boyfriend Blazer by Fashion Bug, $34.99
Boyfriend Blazer by Fashion Bug, $34.99

The new Boyfriend Blazers are a no-brainer wardrobe staple.  They can be used as outerwear in warmer weather or worn as part of an outfit in cooler temps.  When shopping for this look in plus sizes, try to find a more tailored version.  Yes, the look is supposed to be a little bit slouchier than a fitted jacket, but if its too loose it can look sloppy.

I like this blazer from Fashion Bug in part because of the light stripe pattern on the roll up cuffs.  It’s hard to tell from the image if the jacket nips in at the waist but you can always tailor it if not (especially considering that the jacket is only $34.99!  Here are three easy ways to rock this blazer:

Look One: Calvin Klein Pleated Floral Dress

Look One: The whole idea of this blazer is that it’s supposed to look a little like you borrowed it from your boyfriend.  So why not pair the manly jacket with a frilly floral dress?  The Calvin Klein pleated floral dress pictured at right is in keeping with the bright retro florals that are so big for spring.  I think the smocked details are especially cute and provide a great contrast to the serious tone of a blazer.

Look Two: Etsy Fringe Necklace

Look Two: Another way to take a basic piece to a new place is with a really powerful accessory.  A plus size blogger friend of mine just bought a fringed necklace from the LeilanniLand Etsy Shop.  I am in LOVE with this Etsy designer because these necklaces are truly statement pieces that can completely change your look.  You could pair the blazer with a white t-shirt and this necklace and make it dynamite.  Plus, you get a custom made hand dyed piece none of your friends will have for only $45.

Look Three: Calvin Klein Jeans at Macys
Look Three: Calvin Klein Jeans

Look Three: When you think of blazers, you may think of suits and trousers.  But the most modern way to wear suiting is to pair it with jeans.  These slim cut jeans from Calvin Klein are tailored enough to wear in a business casual situation with a nice blouse.  Or you could wear some torn up bleach spot jeans and a bright colored tank with the jacket and make it a weekend going out look.
