Alexander McQueen - LA store

Still dreaming of the McQueen dress… yet I haven’t set foot in his new store on Melrose (which opened over a month ago) out of fear of um… going bankrupt. You see, I’m not a window shopper. I’m an impulsive buyer. And the all or nothing kind, at worst. So, I’ll be admiring from a distance until the wind of funds changes course. Gotta love Yohji for being so out there! Wait, there is a word for that: avant-garde. It was hard for me to choose only one of his dresses, if you can even call them that. They are more unique draped creations. I love his asymmetry, color combinations and the abundance of beautiful fabric. It’s wearable art, is what it truly is.

Yves Saint Laurent has been the paragon of class, elegance and simplicity since the beginning. This mod inspired dress is no surprise, but a confirmation of “less is more”. Yet, simplicity is sometimes harder to achieve than we think. We tend to either overkill with jewelry or understate with flats. Stripped of superfluous accessories, this look is so clean and fresh that it needs little else. Let your glowing skin get all the attention this spring!

Although not technically a dress, but a great spring look, nonetheless, by none other than my other beloved Belgian fashion designer, Ann Demeulemeester. This outfit is classic and timeless, yet hip and modern at the same time. I love how it is multi-layered and rich in accessories. It’s appropriate for day or evening wear.
