Spring dress fever - Alexander McQueen
And now the last spring dress fever week pick, but most certainly not the least… {drumroll} - Alexander McQueen. Speechless was my first reaction when I saw his Spring 2008 Collection. If you can find words to do justice to this piece, then drop me a line. I am still hypnotized by the magic. I adore and salute his use of feathers in the front versus the back, which usually propels angelic reference. The use of materials and colors is exquisite. If I could only afford it, I would wear it in a heartbeat.

Spring dress fever - Yohji Yamamoto
Gotta love Yohji for being so out there! Wait, there is a word for that: avant-garde. It was hard for me to choose only one of his dresses, if you can even call them that. They are more unique draped creations. I love his asymmetry, color combinations and the abundance of beautiful fabric. It’s wearable art, is what it truly is.

Spring dress fever - Yves Saint Laurent
Yves Saint Laurent has been the paragon of class, elegance and simplicity since the beginning. This mod inspired dress is no surprise, but a confirmation of “less is more”. Yet, simplicity is sometimes harder to achieve than we think. We tend to either overkill with jewelry or understate with flats. Stripped of superfluous accessories, this look is so clean and fresh that it needs little else. Let your glowing skin get all the attention this spring!

Spring dress fever - Diane Von Furstenberg
Uh, this dress is just what the doctor ordered this spring! The over-sized loose casual cut creates a comfort quality and the open neck is revealing enough to feel sexy. Green is one of my favorite colors and this shade is very soothing. Thank you, Diane Von Furstenberg, for a beautiful spring dress… that I just might have to splurge on.

Spring dress fever - Roland Mouret

The sun is back out and it’s time to primp up. This week I will focus on sexy dresses for spring 2008. Running out of inspiration for fitted spring dresses? Roland Mouret has the best cuts and colors and… oh, so much class! Shame the models look so gaunt - I had to crop their heads off so that you can focus on the clothes instead of anorexia. You can view the rest of the collection on video at the NY mag site.

LA Fashion Week
LA Fashion week kicks off tonight with a GenArt group show featuring JMary, Jesse Kamm and Le Sang Des Betes. I am most exited about the new JMary collection. Her jackets and dresses have great cuts and quality fabrics that make everyone look sophisticated and untouchable. The dress above is Marlena - black silk chiffon over nude silk georgette with pockets - one of my favorite pieces from her Spring 2008 collection.

Gary Harvey, my creative eco-hero
In the spirit of LA Fashion Week (that starts this Friday) and eco-friendly design, I present to you Gary Harvey. He is a London-based eco-couture designer who unveiled his first collection at the 07 London Fashion Week. The concept behind the 9 dresses presented at the show is to promote fashion design with a conscience and reinvent the perception of recycled clothing. Gary finds second-hand garments in thrift stores and infuses them with a new life and a statement. I impatiently await his next collection.
